DARIA POLATIN is a playwright, TV writer and author. She is currently writing for Amazon’s upcoming TV series “Jack Ryan,” starring John Krasinski, and wrote for Hulu’s psychic drama “Shut Eye.”
As a playwright Daria’s work includes Palmyra, a new thriller about ISIS and feminism, In Tandem, Guidance, That First Fall, D.C., and The Luxor Express, inspired by her father’s life growing up in Egypt. Her work has been produced at The Kennedy Center, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Naked Angels, Golden Thread, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Cape Cod Theater Project, Noor Theater, The Wilshire Ebell Theatre, in London and Hong Kong. Daria directed her play Laura & Sebastian (and Jordan & Bliss) in Los Angeles as part of “Unscreened,” and directed a new play written by and starring “Game of Thrones”‘ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, also starring Gwendoline Christie. Daria wrote and directed the short film “Till It Gets Weird.”
Daria is an alumna of Center Theatre Group’s Writers Workshop and EST’s Youngblood, and a member of The Echo Theater’s Playwrights Lab. She completed a residency with London’s Royal Court Theatre, earned her BFA from Boston University, and her MFA in Playwriting from Columbia University. She is a founding member of The Kilroys, the advocacy group for female and trans playwrights and gender parity on the American stage.
